1 worker dead, 1 wounded, 1 arrested in shooting at manufacturing plant

ROYAL CITY, Wash. (AP) — One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting in Royal City, which is about 30 miles south of Moses Lake.


The Grant County Sheriff's Office says the incident took place about 8 a.m. Friday when a man opened fire at Callahan Manufacturing in Royal City.

The sheriff's office says 49-year-old Joel Rodriguez, of Quincy, died at the scene. Officials say 55-year-old Augustin Verduzco Sanchez, of Soap Lake, suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities have arrested 30-year-old Eduardo Ibarra-Valencia, of Royal City. He has been booked into Grant County Jail on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Preliminary information suggests the shooting resulted from a confrontation between employees.
