Surveillance video shows moment plane crashed into Ohio apartment complex; 9 dead

AKRON, Ohio -- Surveillance video obtained by WJW shows the moment a plane carrying nine people crashed into an apartment building in Akron, Ohio on Tuesday.

The twin-engine jet went down on approach at Akron-Fulton Airport just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday. It crashed into an apartment building on Mogadore Road.

The plane and the building burst into flames. Nine people died in the crash.

Cameras at J. Bowers Construction in Akron captured the plane falling out of the sky and colliding with the apartment building. Smoke and flames are then seen billowing from the crash site.

No one was in the apartment building when the crash happened.

Those on board the plane included a pilot and co-pilot along with seven employees from Florida-based Pebb Enterprises, a real estate investment company. The company released a statement Wednesday morning as authorities investigated at the scene of the crash.

We are shocked and deeply saddened for the families, colleagues and friends of those who perished. Our first priority is to give our fullest support to the family members and loved ones of our co-workers. We ask for the media’s understanding and cooperation at this time of unimaginable loss and mourning and are not responding to media requests at this time."
