Police name 10-year-old boy killed in Lakewood crash

LAKEWOOD, Wash. – Lakewood police said the 10-year-old boy who was killed in a car accident Monday afternoon was named Dylan Wilson.

Police said a 14-year-old boy was driving the car when it hit a power pole and then a large tree at Veterans Dr. near Pine St. The driver was hurt, as were another 14-year-old and an 11-year-old.

Lakewood police said the suspect was released from the hospital and would be booked into Remann Hall, a juvenile detention center in Tacoma, on charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and felony hit and run.

“Our thoughts and sympathies go out to the boys and their families,” Lakewood police chief Mike Zaro wrote on the department’s Facebook page. “Many of us are parents ourselves and can’t imagine what they are going through.”

Lakewood police Lt. Chris Lawler said Monday that the drive has been arrested and could face vehicular homicide charges. Police said the boys had taken the car, which belonged to one of the boys' parents, and gone joyriding.
