Police name victim in Tacoma shooting; reward offered for suspect info

TACOMA, Wash. – Police are asking for help figuring out who shot Steven Speakman to death early Tuesday morning in Tacoma.

Speakman, who was intellectually disabled and functioned at the level of a 10-year-old, was killed just before 6 a.m. in the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Way in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood.

Police said Speakman, 26, lived about two blocks from the shooting and was well-known in the neighborhood. They’re looking for any information about suspicious people or cars in the neighborhood around the time he was killed.
