Detectives ask for public's help in finding suspects who stabbed father of 2

SEATTLE -- King County detectives are asking for the public's help in locating three men suspected of a vicious attack that may leave a West Seattle man paralyzed.

For the first time, the victim spoke out from his bed in the intensive care unit of Harborview Medical Center.

Ramon Aspeitia doesn`t know if he will ever walk again.

“My upper body, I’m moving. I’m moving my hands and talking, but they stabbed me on my back. I can`t feel and move my legs,” says Ramon.

Riding the Route 128 Metro bus on his way home Sunday night from Ma Ono in West Seattle, one of his two restaurant jobs, the young father of two made a stop at a smoke shop near the Bartell`s drug store at 15th and Roxbury.

“These three guys walked by and they knocked down my umbrella.  I told them, you know, ‘Hey, be careful, you know, watch out, be careful.'"

Ramon says the three men started flashing gang signs and tried to sell him crystal meth. Before he knew it, all three were attacking him.

“I seen the guy pull out a blade and then they started approaching me.  I felt the stab in the back and I thought somebody kicked me. When they left, I tried rubbing my back and I felt a blade in my back. I just panicked,” says Ramon.

“He suffered at least three stab wounds and one of the stab wounds was in his lower back right next to his spine. The blade broke off and was still in his back when deputies arrived,” says Cindi West with the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives say surveillance video provides little clues.

“It shows them kind of hanging out in the area and then they come back into view of the camera a couple times before they finally flee.  There was a vehicle that pulled in and left at the time these guys were there and we are hoping that that person might remember something distinctive about them that will help us identify them,” says West.

While they try to track down these three suspects, Ramon is bandaged and bedridden at Harborview, wondering how he will care for his two children.

“It’s going to take a while for me to walk again,” says Ramon.

The suspects are three Hispanic males, late teens or early 20s.  One had a blue bandana on his face.  The second had a black jacket and blue bandana around his neck.  The third was shorter and wearing a hat.
