Jury convicts man in Las Vegas Strip shooting/crash that killed 3, including Washington woman

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A self-styled pimp was found guilty Monday of killing three people in a shooting and fiery crash on the Las Vegas Strip in February 2013.

Ammar Asim Faruq Harris sat still and gave no reaction as the verdicts were read Monday in Nevada state court.

The same jury will begin next Monday to decide if the 29-year-old should be put to death.

Jurors heard a week of testimony from dozens of prosecution witnesses.

Harris didn't testify. His lawyers maintained the shooting was self-defense.

He stood accused of shooting from a black SUV into a moving Maserati, mortally wounding an aspiring rapper behind the wheel. The sports car then crashed into a taxi, igniting a spectacular fireball that killed the driver and passenger inside.

The passenger killed in the taxi was Sandi Sutton-Wasmund, 48, of Maple Valley, Wash.

Police found no gun in the wrecked Maserati.
