2 teenage Washington brothers accused of running prostitution ring out of mom's house

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Spokane police have arrested two teenage brothers for allegedly running an underage prostitution ring.

Police say a 17-year-old in a juvenile detention center was instructing his 15-year-old brother in phone calls about how to run the prostitution ring. Documents say their mother was getting 25 percent of the profits.

Members of a police gang unit say they were listening to the phone calls, hoping to get more information about an unrelated felony charge involving a shooting.

The 15-year-old appeared in court Thursday on charges of promoting prostitution and promoting the commercial sexual abuse of a minor. Investigators say girls were ordered by the teens to advertise themselves on a prostitution website for $400 dates. Those who didn't were reportedly assaulted.

Both brothers are in custody at the juvenile detention center.

Documents say the women and girls involved in the operation were as young as 14 years old, according to KHQ-TV.
