Port Angeles to begin new passenger air service to Sea-Tac

PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — Port Angeles-area residents will once again be able to catch a flight to Seattle when air passenger service between William R. Fairchild International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport resumes on March 1.

The Peninsula Daily News reports that SeaPort Airlines of Portland, Oregon, announced Tuesday that it will begin passenger service between the airports with five flights most days on single-engine, nine-passenger Cessna Caravan turboprop aircraft.

Kenmore Air stopped service to Port Angeles last November. Officials say the Port of Port Angeles has been looking for another carrier since then.

When service begins in March, the Transportation Security Administration will not provide inspections at Fairchild. Passengers flying beyond Sea-Tac will have to undergo security checks when they reach Seattle.
