Judge delays trial for Idaho man police say killed officer

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A judge has delayed the trial of an Idaho man who admitted to shooting and killing a police officer but then pleaded not guilty.

KREM-TV reports that a judge on Wednesday agreed to give 26-year-old Jonathan Renfro's lawyers extra time to prepare the case. The trial is now set for September 2016.

Renfro is charged with murder in the May death of Coeur D'Alene Sgt. Greg Moore. Police say Renfro admitted to shooting the officer during an early-morning traffic stop because he had a gun in his pocket and knew Moore would find it.

Court documents say Moore was wearing a body camera that caught video and audio of his encounter with Renfro.

Prosecutors say they aren't sure whether they will pursue the death penalty.
