87-year-old woman killed in Tacoma car crash

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Police say an 87-year-old woman has died after the car she was riding in collided with a semi in Tacoma.

Crews were first called shortly after 2 p.m. to E. Portland Avenue and Puyallup Avenue.

The News Tribune reports the crash occurred after the 80-year-old driver of the car turned left in front of the truck Monday afternoon.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman who was killed as Eiko Warren of Tacoma.

The man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool says the driver of the truck is not suspected of any wrongdoing.

Roads in the area were closed for several hours.
