Man arrested in Sequim on warrant accusing him of child sex crimes in California

PORT ANGELES, Wash. -- A 56-year-old man has been arrested in Sequim on a felony warrant from California accusing him of child sex crimes in San Diego, it was reported Wednesday.

The Peninsula Daily News said Frank Luis Santamaria was arrested in Sequim Monday  and charged Tuesday with being a fugitive from justice in California.

The San Diego Sheriff's Office asked Sequim police to arrest Santamaria on a $1 million warrant issued last Friday in San Diego County Superior Court, the newspaper said.

Santamaria, who has a Sequim address, was arrested without incident, the paper said. He's being held in jail on $1 million bail.

According to the arrest warrant, Santamaria was accused of sexual acts with a child younger than 10, and lewd or lascivious acts with a child.

Santamaria refused to waive extradition Tuesday, the newspaper said. Clallam County Superior Court Judge Brian Coughenour is to hold a review hearing on Oct. 20.
