Student injured in Seattle bus crash sues duck boat operator

SEATTLE (AP) — A 21-year-old college student injured in a deadly bus crash in Seattle is suing the "duck boat" operator and the company that refurbished the amphibious vehicle.

Na Ra Yoon filed a lawsuit in King County Superior Court Monday seeking unspecified person injury damages against Ride the Ducks of Seattle, Ride the Ducks International, which refurbished the vehicle involved in the crash, and an unidentified driver.

Yoon, a student from South Korea, was riding with other North Seattle College students in the charter bus when it was struck by the duck boat. The complaint says she was knocked unconscious and suffered hand fractures.

Her Seattle lawyer, Charles Hermann, says Ride the Ducks International should have warned the Seattle franchise about dangerous flaws.

A message left with Ride the Ducks International was not immediately returned. A spokesman for Ride the Ducks of Seattle says he didn't anticipate the company would comment until the investigation was complete.
