School in Lewis County evacuated after bomb threat

WINLOCK, Wash. -- School officials and law enforcement evacuated students from Winlock High/Middle School shortly after noon Monday, after a message was found in the school warning of a bomb going off in the afternoon.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office said three trained dogs from the Washington State Patrol searched the school and found no bombs or explosive materials.

School activities were canceled Monday night, but all classes are set to resume Tuesday.

“We take these incidents very seriously, especially in the light of tragic events which have occurred around the nation recently. We have assigned a detective to investigate the threat at the school and will take appropriate action should a suspect be identified”, Sheriff Robert Snaza said.
