Man arrested after attempted robbery at Safeway

SEATTLE - A knife-wielding man was arrested after he attempted to rob a Safeway employee inside the store in the University district on Saturday.

Seattle police confirmed to Q13FOX News that the man entered the store in the 4700 block of Brooklyn Avenue Northeast just after 3 p.m.

An eyewitness said that the man approached a Safeway employee, produced a knife and attempted to rob the worker, police confirmed.

Another man inside the store saw what was happenening and tried to intervene and break up the attempted robbery.

Police said that the good samaritan may have been cut, during the struggle with the suspect.

The suspect fled the store but was quickly arrested by SPD bicycle cops who were nearby, police said.

The suspect was taken into custody and the good samaritan was not seriously hurt.
