Mother calls 911 hours after 3-year-old found wandering alone in Auburn

AUBURN -- Police are reuniting a mother with her 3-year-old child who was found wandering near an apartment complex alone Friday afternoon in Auburn.

According to the Auburn Police Department, the girl was found wandering by herself around 6:50 a.m. near the Four Lakes Apartments in the 6800 block of Udell Avenue SE.

The girl, who was wearing blue denim shorts and a light blue tank tip, told officers her name was Bon Bon.

At the time of her finding, there were no reported calls to police regarding a missing child, police said. Four Lakes Apartment managers knocked on doors at the complex, police said, but to no avail.

Around 10:54 a.m. -- more than four hours after the girl was found wandering alone --the girl's mother called 911.

Police are investigating the incident. It is not immediately known if Child Protective services would be called.
