Injured 17-year-old hiker airlifted from Glacier Peak Wilderness

GLACIER PEAK WILDERNESS, Wash. -- Rescuers located an injured 17-year-old female hiker in the Glacier Peak Wilderness and flew her to the hospital in Everett Monday, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said.

At around 6:30 p.m., search and rescue were notified that a personal locator beacon was activated near the White Chuck Glacier, south of Glacier Peak, the sheriff's office said.

Hikers with the girl reported that she fell and sustained a spinal injury.

The SnoHAWK10 helicopter crew located the group around 7 p.m., hoisted her and transported her to Providence Regional Medical Center around 9 p.m., the sheriff's office said.

Her condition was not immediately released.
