Window washer dies in fall off Tacoma building

TACOMA -- A 30-year-old window washer fell off a building Thursday morning in Tacoma and died, fire officials said.

According to Tacoma Fire, a report of an injured window washer came in at 9:47 a.m. in the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue after the worker apparently fell off the building. Crews arrived at scene, known as the Davita Building, and found him dead.

Tacoma police and the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries are investigating the incident.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner identified the man as 30-year-old Timothy Sargent.

According to L & I, Sargeant's employer was United Building Services Inc., of Seattle. The department said this employer has been inspected six times in six years at various locations in Tacoma and Seattle and has been cited four times for serious violations related to protection against falls.
