Police: Man beaten to death with hammer in Tacoma, woman also seriously hurt



TACOMA -- Police say one person died and another was seriously hurt after someone attacked them with a hammer Tuesday afternoon in Tacoma.

According to Tacoma police,  a man and woman were beaten around 2:15 p.m. in their home near East I Street & East 58th Street.

Officials said a friend called 9-1-1 saying that their friend was being beaten with a hammer. The man died and a woman suffered life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a nearby hospital.

Officers located a person of interest a short distance away and took that person into custody.

Investigators believe the suspect and the victims knew each other. They do not believe anyone else is in danger.
