Police seeking man who allegedly assaulted, attempted to rape young mother in her home

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. -- A 30-year-old man is being sought for allegedly forcing his way into a woman's home in Kitsap County Friday, assaulting her, attempting to rape her and then stealing her laptop, bank card and cell phone.

Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said a warrant has been issued for David John Jevne, 30, a former Jefferson County resident.

The sheriff's office said Jevne forced his way into the unincorporated Kitsap County home of a young mother and her two children early Friday morning.

Once inside the residence, Jevne choked the woman and attempted to sexually assault her, the sheriff's office said.

The assault was stopped when one of the children awakened. He then left the home with the woman's laptop computer, bank card and cell phone.

The sheriff's office said the victim was able to identify him because she was previously acquainted with him.

Jevne is described as 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes. The suspect has missing teeth and a tattoo on his right arm that reads "Jevne" and a tattoo on his let arm that reads "tribal."

A warrant for Jevne's arrest was issued on the following charges: Assault, attempted rape, burglary, robbery. Bail has been set at $250,000.

Jevne’s previous criminal history includes 32 convictions, of which 11 are felony level
convictions, the sheriff's office said.
