Tip leads officers to 11-time felon accused of violent home invasion, attempted rape thwarted by victim's child

UPDATE August 23, 2015 --  Seattle Police arrested Kitsap County fugitive David Jevne Friday night. He is accused of assault, attempted rape, burglary and robbery. Seattle police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from someone who spotted Jevne near a fast food restaurant at 4th Avenue South and South Holgate Street just before 10 p.m. When officers arrived they saw a man matching Jevne’s description. He took off on a bike and rode into a gated vehicle parking area where he ditched the bike and tried to run away on foot. He was quickly apprehended. WANTED IN KITSAP COUNTY -- David Jevne is accused of forcing his way into a woman's home in Kitsap County -- assaulting her, attempting to rape her and then stealing her laptop, bank card and cell phone on Friday. "The man attempted to sexually assault and strangle this young woman. She had two children in the house and the assault was thwarted, in a way, when one of the children woke up and walked into the room. He left the house, but before he did that he stole the woman's laptop computer, a cell phone and a bank card." Detectives say surveillance video from a gas station in Gorst shows Jevne waiting in line to use the victim's bank card. He had an orange and black backpack on with a pair of tennis shoes dangling from it.

The sheriff's office said the victim was able to identify him because she was previously acquainted with him. Jevne's6'2" and 220 pounds. He's missing teeth and has a tattoo of his last name on his right arm and "Tribal" on his left arm. A $250,000 warrant for Jevne's arrest was issued for assault, attempted rape, burglary and robbery. Jevne’s previous criminal history includes 32 convictions, of which 11 are felonies.
