Lightning strikes tree in Everett; debris damages home, gas line

EVERETT -- Lightning is likely to blame for splintering a tree and rupturing a gas line on the 2100 block of West Mukilteo Boulevard Friday.

Everett firefighters arrived on scene to report the tree had split and branches fell onto a house. The exploding tree sent debris flying across the street into neighbor’s yards.

Firefighters and Puget Sound Energy also responded to the scene to repair the gas line.

Fire officials said nobody was inside the home at the time of the incident.
