Neighbors concerned about possible rocket launches at JBLM

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD -- Neighbors near JBLM attended a meeting with the Army Thursday to try to learn more about the possibility of rockets streaking across the sky.

The Army currently conducts rocket-launching training near Yakima. But in March, an environmental assessment began to explore the idea of launching them at JBLM. A three-day test program to gather noise data could begin in early 2016.

The Army is trying to get feedback from the public. And neighbors who live near the base attended a meeting to try to learn more and expressed concerns about the noise.
