Father pleads guilty to attempted murder after injecting son, 4, with heroin

KING COUNTY, Wash. -- A Redmond man pleaded guilty to attempted murder Thursday in a King County courtroom. Eric E. Lehtinen, 39, is accused of injecting his 4-year-old son with heroin back in 2013.

According to charging documents, doctors found a dangerous mix of heroin, ketamine, morphine and other drugs in the boy’s system.

Police and first aid units responded to the family’s home on NE 72nd street in Redmond on Sept. 24, 2013. The boy’s mom called 9-1-1 when she found both her husband and her 4-year-old son passed out but breathing.

Lehtinen faces 15 to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors have recommended the maximum sentence.

He is scheduled for sentencing on September 4.
