1 killed in devastating rollover crash in South Seattle

SEATTLE -- A fiery, single-car crash killed one person Friday morning on Renton Avenue South.

A car crashed into a utility pole around 12 a.m. near the intersection of Renton Avenue South and 68th Avenue South. One unidentified person in the car died at the scene, officials said.

Witnesses told Q13 FOX News that the car appeared to be traveling at least 100 mph before the crash, and may have lost control near a curve. A resulting car fire nearly spread to a nearby home, witnesses said.

Renton Avenue South remained closed at 7 a.m., but opened a short time later. Utility crews replaced the pole that was damaged.
