Man caught on camera stealing business owner's purse in south Seattle

SEATTLE  --  A local business owner is hoping someone recognizes the man who stole her purse as she tended bar in south Seattle.

The whole incident caught on security cameras.

While waiting for her husband to replace her behind the bar Wednesday night at Souvanny’s Bar and Lounge, owner Souvanny, watched as a man wearing a white baseball cap walked in.

The couple's security cameras tell the rest of the story. The man in the hat walks back towards the kitchen, while two more women join another sitting at the bar.

The man appears to be looking back and forth, and after a few moments, he darts inside the kitchen where Souvanny keeps her purse.

We see the light turn on and seconds later, he briskly walks past the bar. You can clearly see he's holding a bag. Souvanny says that's her purse. Souvanny says she's heartbroken, not because her money or credit cards were stolen, but because she carries her son's pictures around in that bag.

It's all she has to remember him, after he died 14 years ago. Surveillance video also shows the three women leaving moments after the man with the purse; one even changing her clothing in the bathroom before finishing her beer and exiting.

While her customers are outraged, Souvanny is working with Seattle police. In the meantime, she's hoping whoever has her son's pictures will do the right thing and return them.
