SEQUIM, Wash. -- A horse that became stuck in a deep creek in Sequim was rescued Thursday by Clallam County firefighters and others.

"The night before, neighbors observed the horse walking through the creek bred behind the horse owner's home," county Fire District 3 said in a news release. "By morning, the horse became fatigued, struggling in the creek, and witnesses called 911 for assistance."

The firefighters had to call in additional resources from the county sheriff's office, a veterinary clinic and Sequim Animal Control.

A forklift and all-terrain vehicle were used to help rescue the horse.

"The owners of the horse were able to lead the horse away with minor injuries," the release said.
