Bummer summer! Epic attraction not headed to Seattle after all

SEATTLE -- Talk about a bummer summer.

Slide the City, a company that brings long slip-and-slides to a variety of cities across the country, is not carting its 1,000-foot long water slide to Seattle this summer after all.

According to the Seattle Times, Slide the City has taken Seattle, Spokane and the Tri-Cities off its tour after the company was unable to obtain necessary permits from local health departments. A payment, and prior approval, was never submitted by the company, Becky Elias of Seattle and King County Public Health told the Times.

Slide the City originally slated Seattle to be part of its 30-state 7-country tour. The company told the Seattle Times it hopes to secure the necessary permits by next summer.

The slide was scheduled to be laid out on Mercer Street between Warren Avenue North and 4th Avenue North. As many as 6,000 participants could take the slide, Seattlepi.com reported, with costs ranging anywhere from $16 to $65.
