Team rescues injured hiker on Olympic Peninsula

PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — The Clallam County Sheriff's Office says search teams rescued an injured hiker who fell about 100 feet over the weekend.

The sheriff's office said Monday that the hiker had minor head, shoulder and back injuries but was able to walk out late Saturday with the help of search and rescue volunteers.

The hiker was on the Tubal Cain Mine Trail in the Buckhorn Wilderness on the northeastern Olympic Peninsula when he fell. A Boy Scout troop leader called for 911 at 5:30 p.m. Saturday to report the accident.

The injured hiker was taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.
