Man accused of killing neighbor, running her over with mower

WILLARD, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio woman who authorities say was fatally shot by her next-door neighbor while mowing her lawn had injuries consistent with being run over by a push mower.

The Huron County coroner said Friday that 62-year-old Willard resident Linda Ciotto had a severe wound to her left arm and hand. He says Ciotto was shot once in the face from close distance. Fifty-year-old James Blair has been charged with murder in the Tuesday night slaying in Willard, 80 miles southwest of Cleveland. He is being held on $1 million bond.

Blair's public defender declined to comment Friday.

Blair was arrested early Wednesday after a standoff that ended with tear gas canisters being fired.

His mother is accused of hiding the handgun used in the shooting. She was arrested Thursday.
