Former Everett firefighter caught in police underage sex sting sentenced to 8 months

SEATTLE -- A former Everett firefighter was sentenced Friday to eight months in prison for trying to pay for sex with a fictitious 15-year-old girl being pimped by her "father" in a police sting.

David "Pete" Vier, 60, earlier pleaded guilty to communicating with a minor for immoral purposes and two counts of second-degree promoting prostitution.

He faced up to a year behind bars, but the King County Superior Court judge, accepting the recommendation of prosecutors, gave Vier eight months in prison.

According to court documents, a detective posing as the father of a 15-year-old girl exchanged messages with Vier during an online sting targeting men looking for sex with underage girls.

The firefighter agreed to meet up and pay the 'father' $150 to have sex with his daughter, police said, and attempted to visit what he thought was the apartment in West Seattle where the father and daughter supposedly lived.

Detectives took Vier into custody once he arrived at the meeting place Wednesday. Police allegedly found the man with condoms, sex toys and personal lubricants.

Vier had worked for the city of Everett since 1991.
