Police: 1 dead, 2 others shot in early morning drive-by shooting

FEDERAL WAY -- Police are investigating after a drive by shooting left one young man dead and two others shot early Thursday morning.

According to the Federal Way Police Department, officers received calls of gunfire at 1:05 a.m. from residents living near the 32800 block of 1st Avenue South. Within minutes of that report, three men, aged 18,19 and 20, arrived at St. Francis Hospital in a private vehicle. All suffered gunshot wounds.

The 20-year-old man died at the hospital, police said. The two others, both from the Seattle area, are expected to survive, though the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Witnesses at the scene on 1st Avenue South told police that the victims were driving when a suspect car rode up alongside their car and opened fire, car-to-car. In total, there were three scenes in the area where shell casings were found, police said.

The suspect car was described as a red-colored Chevrolet Impala. Witnesses described the shooting suspect as a black man with a stocky build and dreadlocks.
