18-year-old Ferndale woman killed, 3 other young women injured in I-90 crash

ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- An 18-year-old Ferndale woman was killed and three other young women were injured when a car they were in veered off I-90 about 6 miles west of Ellensburg and then rolled over Thursday, the State Patrol said.

Sofia Milstead was the driver of the 1999 Subaru Legacy. She was killed.

Injured were Alexa Smiley, 18, of Lynden; Katherine Webb, 18, of Blaine; and Nichole Deboer, 18 of Sedro-Woolley. They were also transported to Kittitas Valley Hospital.

The State Patrol said the car was traveling eastbound on I-90 when it veered to the right across lane 1, left the roadway and then overcorrected, coming back onto the interstate perpendicular to the lane of travel, then rolled over and came to rest on its top.

The State Patrol said neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the crash.
