Police: Attackers claimed car trouble before stabbing man

KENT -- Police are investigating a stabbing that put a 64-year-old man in the hospital after the assailants knocked on the victim's door, allegedly saying they had car trouble.

The man was home alone in Kent when two people knocked on his front door and said their vehicle had broken down, Kent police say. The victim opened the door and the two assailants entered his home and stabbed him multiple times with a knife.

The victim sustained life-threatening injuries, police said, and is being treated at the Auburn General Hospital's Emergency Room.

The victim likely knew at least one of the attackers, police said.
