Detectives complete probe into Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting

MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — Detectives in Snohomish County have completed their investigation into the October shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

Fifteen-year-old Jaylen Fryberg shot and killed four friends and wounded another on Oct. 24 after inviting them to lunch in the school's cafeteria.

He also killed himself.

For that reason, investigators said on Wednesday that they're not referring any criminal charges to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

The teen's father, Raymond Fryberg, however, has been charged in federal court with illegally possessing the gun that his son used in the shooting. Fryberg was the subject of a restraining order, which meant he was not allowed to have firearms. He's scheduled to be arraigned on five new charges on Thursday.

Detectives say they'll release the first installment of records from the shooting investigation on Aug. 31.
