Brush fire spreads in hotel stairwell, guests evacuated

TACOMA -- Fire crews worked to extinguish a brush fire that spread to a hotel stairway Tuesday morning.

Tacoma Fire tweeted around 8 a.m. that a fire near a Red Lion in the 8400 block of South Hosmer Street spread to the stairwell of the hotel.



Around 170 guests were evacuated as the flames grew. No one was immediately reported injured. No rooms were damaged in the fire.

It appears the fire was quickly under control.
