Need to send your kids away... to summer camp? There's still time!

EDMONDS -- Parents, we're mid-summer now, so you may be feeling... well, how do we put this? Perhaps if your kids are having a tough time staying busy, you're feeling their restlessness alongside them. If that's the case, there is a camp that just might be right up your alley for getting them outside to play AND learn: Beach Camp!

Beach Camp at Sunset Bay in Edmonds has water sports AND marine science all in one. Set right along (and in!) the Puget Sound, kids learn how to kayak, sail, skim board, the whole nine- all while learning water safety and teamwork as well. The best part? The activities are made even more meaningful by combining activities above the water, with lessons on the world that lies beneath it.

"My job is to make sure I incorporate marine science into everything we do," said Miranda Grato, a marine biologist and counselor at the camp. "I also do the beach walks, and I teach the kids about the ecology around here... and we also have a touch tank so we can get more... hands-on." The touch tank allows the kids to get up close to different sea life, and they seemed to love it!

Combining the importance of conservation with fun is what "Ocean" Annie Crawley, the camp's director, says a week here is all about. "We want them to be able to go skim boarding and beach biking and paddle boarding, and have the time of their lives while they're doing it," she told us. "And they're learning about our tides, they're learning about what lives below the surface, they're learning about our home!"

These week-long camps have both day and overnight options, but the day camps are, for the most part, full. The good news? There are plenty of spots available in some of the remaining overnight camps this summer, meaning it's not too late to send your kids away! Away to camp, that is. Click HERE to read more and sign up!
