Former Pasco officer accused of murdering prostitute pleads not guilty

ASCO, Wash. (AP) — A former Pasco police officer accused of killing a Spokane prostitute in 1986 has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.

KREM-TV reports that Richard Aguirre pleaded not guilty Tuesday to first-degree murder, tampering with a witness and voyeurism in Spokane County. He faces a separate rape charge, which he has also pleaded not guilty to, in Franklin County.

Spokane police last month arrested Aguirre in connection with the killing of 27-year-old Ruby Doss. Police say DNA that Aguirre voluntarily submitted during the rape investigation matched DNA from evidence collected at the scene of Doss' murder.

Investigators say Aguirre and Doss got into a fight after a sexual encounter on the night of the murder.
