Police nab suspected dog thief

SEATTLE -- Seattle Police have arrested a man who, they say, forcibly stole a Victory Heights man’s dog on Saturday night.

The victim told investigators he had lost his dog a few days earlier and was searching the neighborhood for it around 9:30 p.m.

He says that is when he spotted the missing pup with another man at NE 125th St. and 17th Ave. NE.

When the victim approached that man, he says the suspect demanded cash or drugs to give the dog back.

After the victim told the man he had nothing to give, he was shoved to the ground and the man left with his dog.

Officers recognized the description of the suspect from “previous encounters,” and called him on the phone.

When he met up with police, he was arrested and booked into King County Jail on robbery charges.

The dog was successfully returned to its owner.
