"He's lucky he's alive': 75-foot tree crashes down on car traveling on Lake City street

SEATTLE -- A 75-foot tree crashed down Friday on top of a Honda Civic as the driver was traveling down NE 125th Street in the Lake City neighborhood, police said.

Police said the tree toppled over on the car around 8 a.m. Friday near the intersection of NE 125th Street and 22nd Avenue.

The male driver had chest and shoulder pain and was taken to a local hospital. Steve Mounce checked to see what's left of his son's car and was glad his son was not seriously injured.

City officials said the recent dry weather likely played a role in the mature tree's fall.
