I-5 Lanes Reopen After Major Accidents

TUMWATER, Wash. -- Delays for drivers heading north on Interstate 5 stretched from the morning to the afternoon on Saturday, following a crash involving several vehicles.

Washington State Patrol responded to a four-vehicle crash, near I-5's Exit 101, just before 9 a.m. Troopers say there are multiple patients and injuries, but none of the injuries have become fatal.

Traffic in that area was snarled for hours, and all northbound lanes were closed until investigators cleared the scene at 2:30 p.m.

Right now the cause of the accident is undetermined, but troopers do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.

Earlier on Saturday morning WSP was called to almost the exact same area, where a two-car accident claimed the life of one person. In that case, investigators believe one of the drivers was going more than 100 mph, and may have been under the influence of drugs. That crash is being treated as a vehicular homicide.
