Hydros and clowns: Seafair Summer Fourth is here

SEATTLE -- Celebrating the 4th by huddling up with your family and friends under the night sky to watch fireworks over Lake Union is a tradition for many Pacific Northwesterners! The fireworks may start at 10:20pm, but the fun starts much earlier in the day, and we were lucky enough to get a bit of a preview of the Seafair Summer Fourth!

There are once again two locations for the festivities: Gas Works Park opens at noon; South Lake Union Park opens at 3, with both areas staying open until 11pm. From food trucks and beverage gardens, to live music and Seafair favorites, there's a ton for the whole family at either location.

The famed Seafair Clowns helped us show off one of the All-American Games you can sign up to participate in: a pie-eating contest. Check out the footage above to see how it went (hint: one of them actually picked pieces of the pie out of the grass to eat, it was so delicious).

We were also delighted to have Miss Seafair Jasmine Goodwin join us, who (along with some very enthusiastic volunteers!) showcased the hula hooping contest families can sign up to try out this year! We also talked about the Mobile Bucket List Challenge, an on-going scavenger hunt that runs through Seafair at the end of the month where you can use your mobile device to collect pictures and other items towards prizes!

Seafair and the Summer Fourth wouldn't be the same without its volunteers, and we met Bill and Erin, a father-daughter duo who have volunteered for years and truly epitomize how Seafair events are a family tradition for so many of us. They are both members of the Seafair Boat Club (which also hosts the Milk Carton Derby coming up on July 11th! Click HERE for details!).
