Driver slams into rear of State Patrol car on I-5; man arrested on suspicion of DUI

MARYSVILLE, Wash. -- A driver slammed into the rear of an occupied Washington State Patrol car that was assisting firefighters on Interstate 5 near Marysville Tuesday night.

The trooper was transported to the hospital with only minor injuries, troopers told Q13 FOX News.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, troopers said, adding that the driver had been stopped before for DUI.

The patrol car was stopped on I-5 to restrict lane usage and protect firefighters who were putting out hot spots left over from brush fires along I-5. Those fires were believed to be intentionally set, troopers said.
