Oregon man charged with murder in freezer deaths

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police in Springfield, Oregon, arrested a man whose parents were found dead in a freezer.

Sgt. Rich Charboneau says Jeremy Ringquist was released from a hospital Thursday and jailed on murder charges. His initial court appearance is Friday.

The 38-year-old man lived with his parents, Randy and Karen Ringquist. Officers went to the house twice in the past two weeks after a relative couldn't reach the family and asked for welfare checks. The first time was June 15, the second was Monday.

Both times, notes on the door said the family was away.

An officer returned Tuesday. As he knocked on the door, a man inside called 911 and asked for a police negotiator.

Police who forced their way in found Ringquist bleeding and, later, two bodies in a freezer.
