Police find 2 bodies in freezer in Oregon home, may be man's missing parents

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police in Springfield have found the bodies of two people stored in a freezer in a residential house.

An adult man was found alive in the house, but he had suffered some sort of injury and was taken to the hospital, police said.

Police Sgt. Rich Charboneau said Wednesday afternoon that 38-year-old Jeremy Ringquist, the survivor, had not been charged with a crime.

The man lived at the house with his parents but Charboneau said he couldn't confirm the bodies found in the freezer were those of the missing parents.

Tax records list the homeowners as Randy and Karen Ringquist.

Charboneau says an officer following up Tuesday on a requested welfare check at the home knocked on the door as a man inside called 911 and asked for a police negotiator. Additional officers forced their way in when there was no response.

The man found inside had an injury that police say is not life-threatening.
