Man accused of luring woman with job interview, raping her

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Portland man accused of luring a woman to his condo with the promise of a job interview, then raping her and choking her unconscious, has pleaded innocent to charges including rape, kidnapping and strangulation.

The Oregonian reports that police and court records indicate the woman ran from the condo topless after she revived, fearful that her attacker was going to come after her, then called 911.

The alleged assault happened May 16. The newspaper says 22-year-old Jameson Hedges was arraigned Monday, with bail set at $785,000. His next court date is June 30.

Court records say the man contacted the 24-year-old woman via Facebook, telling her they had mutual Facebook friends. After she had written she'd been seeking a second job, he reportedly wrote that he might have a job for her, but they needed to meet at his condo.

Court documents say the man told court officials he had no idea who the woman is.
