Police call off active search for shoeless bandit

ARLINGTON  -- An active search for a Bearfoot Bandit -- that is, a thief who went without shoes -- has been called off following a burglary and subsequent chase Monday.

Snohomish County sheriff's deputies were called Monday morning to search the area near the 3900 block of 259th Street NE for a male burglary suspect. According to sheriff's deputies, a man and woman were caught burglarizing a home in the area early Monday morning. The homeowner called police, and the suspects ran off.

Sheriff's deputies located the female suspect a short time after police were called. However, the male suspect was not immediately found.

He was described a white male, 6' tall, wearing a blue t-shirt and dark jeans. His shoes and hat were located by K9 teams, deputies said, so he is believed to be barefoot.

The suspect has no known relation to the Colton Harris-Moore, the infamous "Barefoot Bandit." Harris Moore rose to notoriety following a series of high-profile and daring felonies committed before 2010.

Though an active search has been called off, deputies encouraged anyone with information on the burglar to call 911.
