Candlelight vigil held for Pierce County mom found dead

GRAHAM, Wash. – While the search for a missing Pierce County mother of two comes to a tragic end, her friends and family said their battle for justice is just beginning.

On Monday night, they held a vigil for 28-year-old Nicole White. Search dogs found her body wrapped in a plastic tarp off a rural logging road in Pierce County on Saturday.

Friends and family say this wasn’t the outcome that they had hoped for, but now that her body has been found, they can begin to grieve.

Dozens of friends, family and even strangers came for the candlelight vigil, honoring the mother of two young boys after a two-week long search.

A person of interest has been identified in this case. Pierce County sheriff’s detectives said 29-year-old Jonathan Harris, of Graham, left a Spanaway bar with Nicole the night she disappeared.

Friends and family of Nicole say they will now turn their attention to fighting for justice.

“We’re hoping that if this is someone that took Nicole, our angel, away that he gets what he deserves,” said Amy Ancira, a family friend. “Of course, everybody wants justice. We hope that is something that prevails.”
