Deputies: Man grabbed girl, tried to drag her to the woods

SHELTON -- Sheriff's deputies are telling Mason County residents to be on the lookout for a man who grabbed a 17-year-old girl and tried to drag her into the woods.

Around 2:30 p.m. June 7, the girl was walking home along Rasor Road between Bucktail View and Morris Creek Road in when she decided to stop and sit down, Mason County Sheriff Deputies said. The girl was approached by a man who she had never seen before, and the man asked her to take a walk with him.

The girl refused, deputies said, but the man grabbed her arm and pulled her to her feet. The man then attempted to force the girl into the woods, leading her by the arm.

Luckily, the girl was able to break free and run home, deputies said. Police called to the scene could not find the suspect.

The man is described as 6-feet tall with a healthy build and in his late 30s or early 40s. He is white, deputies said, with dark brown hair and sideburns to the middle of the ear. He was last seen wearing a dark plane t-shirt, blue jeans and off-brand athletic shoes.

Anyone who has information about this attempted abducting is encouraged to call 911.
