WILMINGTON, Calif. — Sure, biting into a hunk of fast-food fried chicken takes a little bit of faith.
But tasting a rat instead of chicken? No faith in the world could prepare one for that.
According to CNN, one KFC customer claims they ordered chicken tenders at a California KFC recently, but instead got something that looked like a rat. Rather than question its appearance, the customer bit right into the thing, noticing it tasted “hard and rubbery.”
“It was very nasty,” the customer, Devorise Dixon, said.
Dixon saved the chicken tender, and put a video of his fine on Facebook. He said he returned to the restaurant with photos and a receipt.
“The manager actually freaked out, confirmed that it was a rat,” Dixon told the radio station. “She apologized for it. They actually just offered me a free meal.”
Dixon declined the offer and hired a lawyer instead.
But corporate KFC says Dixon’s claim is a hoax.
His photographs, they say, don’t include a second angle, which “clearly shows it’s a piece of hand-breaded white meat chicken.”
“Based on this, and the fact that he refuses to allow anyone to see the product, we are left to believe that he intended to deceive the public with this hoax and we are considering all options,” KFC said in a statement.
The company provided a photograph of the second angle that shows a bite was taken from the chicken, exposing white meat.
The fast food eatery says it has tried contacting Dixon, but he refused to cooperate with their investigation.
Dixon didn’t respond when CNN tried to contact him about the situation.
