U.S. Open preparations ramp up, parking figured out

CHAMBERS BAY -- As Monday's player practice rounds began, Chambers Bay Golf Course was abuzz with activity ahead of the 115th U.S. Open scheduled to begin Thursday.

A bevy of PGA players were spotted during practice rounds on the course Monday. The group included Tiger Woods, who allegedly hit an errant shot that just missed some bystanders.

Q13 FOX News reporter Kelly O'Connell met with U.S. Open restaurant staff and got a behind-the-scenes look at what exactly goes in to feeding thousands of fans expected to arrive this week.

Parking spaces at the U.S. Open are expected to be at a premium, officials said, with shuttles running for spectators from the Washingotn State Fair grounds in Puyallup to the course in University place. Attendees are directed to park in the fairgrounds' Blue Gate parking lot at the intersection of Meridian Street South and 10th Avenue South in Puyallup.
